Lakeville Weather -- Current Conditions and Forecasts (Minnesota)

Our weather station equipment was sited to ensure the maximum accuracy of data collection and reporting. Our geograhical location, in general, can be classified as suburban - but in the meteorlogical world this can cause some climatological differences. That being recognized, our station does have slight variation from surrounding weather stations.

As a member of the Citizens Weather Observer Program (CWOP), Lakeville Weather.com has its data checked against other CWOP participants, as well as "official" weather stations (such as airports and the NWS stations).

The graphs shown below depict the error checking and comparison of our station (CW5773) to other local reporting points, as well as the "mean line" or analysis of about 10 stations within our local area.

Our station is (C5773 in blue) with the predicted data based on surrounding stations (C5773 Analysis in red). Also included is the reported data for the National Weather Service meteorological station at the Minneapolis-St.Paul International Airport (KMSP in light blue). KMSP is the weather most often quoted by news and Internet sources for the Twin Cities metro area, and serves as "official" weather for NWS climate readings. KMSP is located 12.4 miles due north from lakevilleweather.com. Our closest QA checkpoint is the Minneapolis-Airlake Airport (KLVN), located here in Lakeville, only 5 miles due south of lakevilleweather.com. Their data is shown in purple.

You will notice that our station is consistently in the "middle of the pack" considering the other data lines. This ensures us that our station's readings are not only accurate, they are reasonable. The data checking program was developed by Phillip Gladstone (CW0003).
